Snap the Cat Updates & Changelog
Official itch.io notes, the Steam 1.0 launch, and community reports — nothing fabricated after launch.
This hub tracks official Snap the Cat notes only: the itch.io demo changelogs the developers posted, the Steam 1.0 launch on 25 August 2026, and a short list of community-reported issues. It does not invent post-launch patches. As of 27 August 2026, the Steam news hub has no extra patch notes after 1.0. There is no 1.0.1 crash-fix article to cite here.
Store identity (price, languages, flags) lives on the facts page. Play advice lives on the guides hub.
itch.io v0.2.8 — 21 April 2026 — “Web Saves & Crash fix”
This build focused on the web player and on economy tuning.
- WebGL / PlayerPrefs saves so browser progress could persist
- Cat queue spawn so arrivals were less chaotic
- Hitbox tweaks
- Monetization upgrades replaced the previous upgrade tiers
- Base money raised from 0.6 to 1
- Location 1 unlock became free
- Tigris pack currency/price moved from 1,000 to 10,000
- Hat Quality rebalance
- Same Costumes upgrade cost 50 → 1,000
- Skill tree: removed Likes Multiplier 3, added Photo Count 4 (+2 photo cards)
The developers also warned that the web WASM build could crash after about 30–80 minutes. They said desktop / Steam is the safer way to play long sessions. That warning still matches later reports about the web demo.
itch.io v0.4.4 — 9 June 2026 — demo + Steam wishlist
June’s note put a public demo on itch.io and pointed players at the Steam wishlist. It also rebuilt the loop players now recognise from 1.0:
- 12 languages at that time: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Ukrainian, Russian
- Money became tokens dropped by cats; tokens are for packs only
- Decorations for locations
- Likes come from cats + costumes + decorations, then multipliers
- Duplicates level up
- Achievements grant tokens
- Floating currencies fade
That skeleton is the full-release economy. Deeper explainers: how likes work and how tokens work. Decorations for locations are on the decorations page.
itch.io demo files still listed as 0.4.14
The itch.io download row is still labelled 0.4.14 for Windows, Linux, and Mac. Treat 0.4.14 as the current demo package, not as a Steam 1.0 build number. Demo and full-game saves stay separate (practical note, not a Cloud-transfer promise).
Steam 1.0 — 25 August 2026
The paid Steam build launched with the advertised 1.0 set:
- 8+ biomes, 40+ cats, 25+ costumes
- 49 achievements
- 13 languages — the demo’s twelve, plus Turkish
- Steam Cloud, mouse-only, save anytime
Hardware notes sit on the controls guide. Studio and price sit on the facts page. Achievement names are easier to track on the achievement checklist.
No extra Steam patch as of 27 August 2026
Do not expect a fabricated 1.0.1 crash patch on this wiki. If Steam publishes notes later, they belong on this hub. Until then, 1.0 is the current full-game version of record.
Community issues (discussions, not patch notes)
Players have reported:
- a box-open audio glitch when opening many boxes in a row
- challenge numbers that are not abbreviated, so large totals are hard to read
- French title-screen spelling « Commancer » instead of « Commencer »
- web demo crashes — play on Steam / desktop instead
These are community reports, not an official bug list from a Steam news post.
How to report bugs
Use the Steam discussions for app 4539530 and email [email protected]. That is the pair listed for support; this wiki does not add a third invented channel.
Demo still downloadable
Steam and itch.io still offer a demo for try-before-buy. Useful if you want the photography loop before spending $6.99 (or the launch sale price). Remember: demo progress does not replace a 1.0 save.
DLC
No DLC has been announced. In-game packs are the live collection sink, not a posted expansion. See packs for how boxes work in the current build.
